Dear Parents, We will be going on our first field trip to Peterson’s Farm located in Petaluma on October 27. We will be leaving the school about 11:15 and returning around 2:30. The students will not only get a pumpkin but will also be learning about bees and feeding farm animals. If you would like more information about Peterson’s Farm please go to their website: http://www.petersonsfarm.com/ For this field trip we are going to need parent drivers. Both second grade classes are going totaling 39 kids and 2 teachers. If you would like to drive please let us know and we will send you to Jackie Bertero (School Secretary). She will give you all the information you need in order to be a driver. In addition, we will be eating lunch at the farm, so the kids need to bring a sack lunch. Please let us know if you need a sack lunch for that day. It is very important that we know a week before because our lunch lady needs to order them. *To promote healthy habits in our classroom, students can become members of our “Room 18 Birthday Book Club”. On a student’s birthday, he/she can bring in a wrapped book to donate to our classroom library. We will celebrate the student’s birthday by having the child unwrap the book in front of the class and putting it on display for our class to enjoy for years to come! Often times, students like to bring a “treat” in for the class to celebrate their birthdays as well. This is fine, but there are wonderful alternatives to the cupcake, cookie, or ice cream treat that kids love! With childhood obesity rates being what they are in this country- if we can encourage kids to make healthy choices whenever possible, we are helping them to become happy and healthy adults!
